Tena Angella Kane passed away peacefully and entered heaven on August 8, 2025. Tena Kane was born in Portland, Jamaica. She departed this life at the age of 57 following an illness. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Tena was an amazing and dedicated homemaker who took pride in caring for her children, grandchildren and everyone around her. Tena worked tirelessly as a caretaker and did food service for a while here in the US. However, in Jamaica she was a woman of many hats. She worked as a nanny where she faithfully cared for small children, she worked as a vendor for years, she understood and mastered the craft of bartending, and she also spent some time baking and selling wholesome bakery products. Tena was a very selfless person who did whatever it took to make her children happy.
Tena's favorite past time activities were crossword puzzles, listening to the radio and watching comedy and reality TV shows. Her family was blessed with her homemade meals and over the years she continued to prepare favorite dishes for holidays and family gatherings. Her grandchildren will remember her as "mama" while her children will remember her as "mummy", friends will also remember her as "Browning, Reds or Mumzell." Her family will always remember Sundays as 'cleaning day' because Tena faithfully played gospel music while she cooked and cleaned the family home every Sunday.
During the last months of her life, she had family visits at the hospital. They frequently went by to satisfy any homesickness she may have felt during her stay, there were relatives back home that made it a point of duty to call and spend time with her via video calls. She was very appreciative of the love and support she received and whenever she was unable to verbally express this, her facial expressions said it all.
She has departed this life and joined hands with her beloved son, Rohan Deans and her mom Melita Gregory. Left to cherish her memories are her remaining children, Marlon Deans, Tishana Davis, Samantha Shepherd, Tashaica Hibberts, Tamaica Blair, Rickardo Blair, Kadine Doyley, Nadine Doyley and Yaniese Blair. She also leaves behind her siblings Arnella Edwards, Alroy Battick, Edwin Battick and Melissa Palmer. She will be missed by all 17 of her grandchildren, her 5 nephews and friends.
