Terence E. McCormack, age 73 passed away on January 11, 2026 in Glen Cove, New York surrounded by his loving family.
Terry was born in Ridgewood, Queens and raised in New Hyde Park, New York. He was the beloved son of Dr. James J. McCormack and Grace E. O’Brien McCormack. He was a devoted husband to Linda Parrino McCormack. He is survived by his brothers, Michael (Arlene), Kevin, Brian (Patricia) and Timothy McCormack, and his sister, Sheila DiMasso (Anthony). He was predeceased by his sister, Colleen McCormack Skeggs. He was the proud uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Terry attended Holy Spirit Grammar School in New Hyde Park, St. John’s Prep in Brooklyn, and St. John’s University in Queens. Terry was a gifted athlete in high school achieving the honor of All City Brooklyn/ Queens in basketball. He continued his athletic career at Hofstra University and then at St. John’s under the legendary coach, Lou Carnesecca.
Terry was a master carpenter known for his professionalism and his attention to detail. He was admired by all for his honesty, trustworthiness, and hardworking nature. Many of his customers became cherished long-lasting friends.
Outside of work, Terry found peace in the things he loved most, tending his garden, visiting with family and friends and traveling to the Hamptons. Terry had a soft spot for animals and was beloved by them as well.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Support for People with Head and Neck Cancers (spohnc.org), in memory of Terence McCormack.
Family will receive friends on Friday, January 16th from 4:00-8:00pm at the Whitting Funeral Home, 300 Glen Cove Avenue, Glen Head, NY 11545. A Mass will be celebrated on January 17, 2026 at 10 am, St. Boniface Martyr Church, 145 Glen Avenue, Sea Cliff, NY 11579.
