Terence “Terry” Martin O’Malley, of Byfield, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at the age of 81. Born on March 29, 1944, in Brooklyn, New York, Terry lived a life so adventurous and varied it could be said he lived a hundred lives in one.
A proud Army veteran, Terry later built a long career with AT&T, retiring as a fiber optic engineer. But work alone never defined him. His life was a collection of bold chapters: from being the only Irishman in an Italian gang, played guitar in a one hit wonder band, to motorcycling across Europe and northern Africa, obtaining his captains license to raising a family and being the kind of neighbor everyone could count on.
Known for his adventurous storytelling, Terry had a gift for turning every memory into a tale worth retelling. His humor, resilience, and fearless spirit made him unforgettable, and his devotion to family and friends remained the heart of who he was.
He is survived by his son Sean Martin O’Malley and his wife Mary Madigan, along with their children Seamus and Margaret O’Malley; his son Ryan Judd O’Malley and his wife Maya Ward-Karet; his son Terence “Luke” O’Malley, his sister Betsy O’Malley Stanley and his beloved dog Buddy.
A memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate Terry’s remarkable life and the many stories he leaves behind.
Visiting hours will be held at Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport, MA 01950, on Friday, September 26, 2025 from 5 to 7 P.M.
35 Green St, Newburyport, MA 01950
