Joaquim De Almeida Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by F. S. Roberts & Son Funeral Home on Jan. 31, 2026.
Joaquim De Almeida III, affectionately known as "Jackie D" to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2026, at home in Rowley, Massachusetts.

Born on March 17, 1955, in Salem, Massachusetts, Jackie was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend who left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him.

Jackie's early years were spent on the family farm on Boxford Road, where he developed a profound appreciation for the outdoors and the value of hard work, a trait that would characterize his entire life.

Jackie attended Pine Grove Elementary in Rowley followed by Triton Regional High in Byfield, where he formed lasting friendships and laid the groundwork for his future endeavors.

His career as a truck driver was cut short by an accident in 2003, but until then, he had been a dedicated employee of New England Solid Waste in Rowley. Jackie's work ethic and camaraderie with his colleagues were highly regarded, and his absence from the profession was felt by many.

His deep connection to his roots was evident in his love for the family farm, where he grew up with his beloved parents, sisters, cousins, and family. He was always ready to lend a helping hand, and his generosity of for those around him.

Jackie leaves behind a loving family, including his daughters, Courtney De Almeida of Rowley, Jamie De Almeida of Georgetown, and Michelle and her husband Marccus Hosman of Haverhill; as well as his son-in-law Ray Spence of Georgetown. His sisters, Delores Felch of Sebastian, FL, Tina Cole of Freedom, NH; and (brother) Robert Pompey of ME, will hold his memory dear. Jackie was the cherished "PUP" of Jaycob, Jaiden, Lilah, Shane, and Ben, and he took great joy in his role as a great-grandfather to Armani. He leaves many nieces, nephews and cousins. His family was the cornerstone of his life, and he reveled in their accomplishments and milestones.

Jackie was predeceased by his youngest daughter Alyson Spence, granddaughter Jessica Brown, and his beloved parents Doris (McSwiggin) and Joaquim "Jack" De Almeida Jr. Their legacy of love and resilience lives on through Jackie and the family they nurtured together.

An outdoorsman at heart, Jackie loved hunting, fishing, and driving race cars. He cherished the time spent walking through the woods and the thrill of competition on the racetrack. Family cookouts, garage hangouts with his racing team, and weekly trips to Star Speedway with his grandchildren were among his favorite pastimes. Even after his accident, Jackie maintained his zest for life, embarking on a memorable trip to North Carolina to visit family and then to Florida, where he and his sisters eagerly explored the wild in search of alligators. A diehard New England sports fan, Jackie remained loyal to his teams through thick and thin, embodying the spirit of perseverance and dedication. His recent adventures, shared laughs, and unwavering support for his loved ones will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Jackie's life was a testament to the power of family, faith, and friendship. He will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him. As we bid farewell to Jackie D. we celebrate the remarkable man he was and the enduring impact he made on the world. Jackie would want each of us to know that we meant the world to him, and it was this bond that kept him going through the years. His spirit will continue to inspire us, and his memory will be treasured forever.
