Teresa R. Codling (Terry) longed to be with Jesus, and on March 11, 2024, surrounded by her family in her home in Blanco, NM, she received her heart's desire. She was born in Temple, TX on March 28, 1945, to Estella and Pedro Montoya. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dear friend. Terry was known for her contagious laugh, playful dark sense of humor, kindness, and generosity, along with her unwavering faith in God. She loved caring for her trees, gardens, and flowers. Her home was always open and welcoming, a sanctuary for anyone who needed a place to feel at peace and loved. She made everyone feel like family as soon as they met her. Terry was full of life and loved everyone .... until she had a set of Canasta cards in her hand, then it was merciless competition. Mom taught all of us the art of the bargain. If there are thrift stores and yard sales in the afterlife, she's already scoring some deals. Though ALS took her speech and was taking her body, her love for the Lord kept her strong and continued to teach us all, even through her last breath.
Terry is survived by her siblings Marvin Montoya, Sherry Key, and Carla (Chris) Brown; children Michael (Rosie) Gonzalez-Montoya, Tina (Eleana) Codling, and Brooke (Daniel) Nelson; grandchildren Sean (Celeste), Victoria, Annie (Ryan), Corbin, Katie, Cassidy, Caleb, Kaiden, Moses and Jodeci; great-grandchildren Olive, Evelyn, Luke, and Ivy; numerous extended family members; and many close friends who she considered family. She was preceded in death by her brother Greg Montoya, and parents Estella and Pedro Montoya.
Our family would like to express a sincere thank you to the staff at Guardian Angel Home Health & Hospice, especially our nurse Brenda, for her loving care and kindness with our mom.
A Celebration of Life will be held at her home on April 14, 2024, at 12:00 pm.
