Teresa Jan Dodd, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Armuchee, Georgia, on Thursday, December 11, 2025, after several years of declining health. She was 67 years old.
Born Teresa Jan Fowler in
Albertville, Alabama, on April 18, 1958, she was the third child of Arnold Fowler and June Hilley Fowler. Teresa grew up in the Coosa area of
Rome, Georgia, and graduated with honors from Coosa High School in 1976.
A Life of Joy and Service. Her deep commitment to her community was evident through her extensive volunteer work over the years. She served as a Girl Scout leader for her children, completed numerous projects for the Armuchee Elementary schools, such as yearbook preparation-and always stepped up when help was needed, like driving a bus of Darlington band students to Florida for a trip. Teresa was known for her compassionate and giving nature, demonstrated by her willingness to help anyone in need.
Teresa lived a life filled with energy, fun, and remarkable generosity. She was an engaged and enthusiastic person who embraced life around her. She loved to play sports, sing songs, and play music with her family at any opportunity. She was always planning a trip to the beach to relax or attend her favorite event, Pirate Fest at Tybee Island with family. Teresa was also a devoted fan of The Walking Dead, attending many Walker Stalker Conventions, where she loved meeting and interacting with the stars of the show.
Teresa's greatest pride and joy were her three daughters and, subsequently, her four grandchildren. Family was paramount to her. She was present for every graduation and excited to help after the birth of every grandchild.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 37 years, Julius B. (Jay) Dodd, III, and her daughters, Shellie Dodd-Bell and her husband, Simon, of Bartlett, Illinois; Hannah Dahlberg-Dodd and her husband, Bobby Dahlberg-Sears, of Sendai, Japan; and Emily Dodd and her husband, Gerrick Muse, Jr., of Chicago, Illinois.
She leaves behind four cherished grandchildren: grandsons Gavin and Logan Bell, granddaughter Astrid Dahlberg, and grandson Arthur Dahlberg.
Teresa is also survived by her loving siblings: brother Frank Fowler and his wife, Meleitha, of Armuchee; and sister Lori Fowler Land and her husband, Jeff, of Calhoun; along with many nieces and nephews.
The family also wishes to acknowledge a friend and caregiver, Nicole DeSetta, for her close friendship and dedicated care for Teresa. Also thank you to the wonderful caring nurses and CNAs at Transitions Hospice Care.
Teresa was preceded in death by her parents, June and Arnold Fowler, and her sister, Sheila Fowler Floyd.
