Cherri Whaley "Patsy" Nelson

Ms. Cherri "Patsy" Whaley Tucker Nelson, age 79, of Rome, GA, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at a local nursing home surrounded by her family.

Ms. Nelson was born in Rome, GA, on January 20, 1947, daughter of the late OC "Joe" Whaley and the late Kathleen Owens. She was also preceded in death by her 1st husband, Thomas "Tommy" Tucker, her 2nd husband, Monty Rufus Nelson, and by a son, Barry Nelson. Ms. Nelson was a graduate of Cedartown High School where she played the clarinet in the school band. She was a pistol of a woman who always kept everyone around her in stiches and constantly on their toes. Ms. Nelson loved cruises with her friends, but nothing held her heart more than her family. Her granddaughters and great granddaughter were the light of her life and spent as much time with them as possible. Ms. Nelson was a member of Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church and is now rejoicing the in presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for eternity.

Survivors include three children, Leigh Ann Tucker Johnson (Kenny), Armuchee, Melody Burke (Pat), Owens Crossing, AL, and Brad Nelson, Panama City Beach, FL; grandchildren, Haley Johnson Sizemore (Derek), Jaycie Johnson (Ryland Steen), Seth Burke (Hannah Gillam), Ross Nelson (Brittney), Dustin Nelson, Judith Nelson, Brandon Nelson, and Connor Radziwon; great grandchildren, River Sizemore, Logan Nelson, Alora Nelson, Raven Nelson, and Kaiden Nelson; numerous friends whom she loved dearly.

In accordance with her wishes, Ms. Nelson will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at 6pm on Friday, March 20, 2026, in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel. The Rev. Billy Fricks will officiate the service.

The family will receive friends from 4pm until service time on Friday at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel.
