Shirley Ann Cauthen

Mrs. Shirley Ann Cauthen, age 86, of Lindale, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 14, 2026.

Born on January 18, 1940, Shirley was the daughter of the late Ollie Franklin Barton and Hassie Davis Barton. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Sephord Henry Cauthen, and her brother, James Franklin Barton.

Shirley Cauthen, a lifelong resident of Lindale, Georgia, passed away leaving behind a legacy of kindness, humility, and quiet wisdom. A proud graduate of Pepperell High School, Shirley was valedictorian of the Class of 1958. On December 22, 1959, she married the love of her life, Sephord Cauthen, and together they built a life centered on faith and family.

Shirley was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Lindale and retired from Walmart as a Customer Service Manager after many years of faithfully serving her community.

She enjoyed reading and sewing, but her greatest joy was her family-especially her sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, whom she loved deeply.

Shirley will be remembered as a kind woman whose gentle spirit touched everyone who knew her. She will be dearly missed.

Shirley is survived by her two sons, Stan Cauthen (Cathy) and Steve Cauthen (Kris) ; her grandchildren, Blake Cauthen, Josh Cauthen (Allie), Leah Stephenson (Brian), and Katie Hibberts (Gary); and her great-grandchildren, Landon Mitchell, Annabelle Hibberts, Presley Stephenson, Aisleigh Hibberts, Hank Cauthen, Ellis Kate Stephenson, and Jace Cauthen.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel with Pastor Eric Welchel and Dr. Jarrod Kinsey officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Blake Cauthen, Josh Cauthen, Landon Mitchell, Brian Stephenson, Allen Maxey, and Benjie Brooks. Serving as an honorary pallbearer will be Wayne Cauthen.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel from 1:00 p.m. until service time.

Shirley's family would also like to give a special thank you to the staff at Cave Spring Manor and the staff with Traditions Hospice Care, for taking such good care of her during a difficult time.
