Teresa L. “Terri” L. Fahnestock, 65, of Galesburg, Illinois, died peacefully at home at 4:13 a.m. on Sunday, July 6, 2025.
Terri was born August 19, 1959 in Peoria, Illinois. She graduated from Galesburg High School and earned her A.A.S. in Early childhood development from Carl Sandburg College. She went on to a long career as a preschool teacher at Carl Sandburg College, as well as teaching childhood development classes at Carl Sandburg College.
Terri was married to Ralph David Thielbert. He preceded her in death on March 29, 2020. Terri is survived by her stepfather, John L. Gorey of Galesburg; two sons, John D. Thielbert and Matthew D. Thielbert both of Galesburg; and one brother, Chris Fahnestock of Galesburg. Terri is also survived by her beloved seven grandchildren, Luna, Maxen, Bentley, Cali, Jordan, Marley, and Matthew, Jr; her two dogs, Herman and Rowdy; and her close friend who was beside her, Karen Swedlund of Galesburg. Terri was preceded in death by her mother, Sharron Margaret (Lapsley) Gorey; and one brother, Gordon Fahnestock.
Terri was quite a homebody, preferring to spend her free time enjoying the comforts of her house. When she was out and about she could often be seen walking her dogs around the neighborhood. More than anything, she loved being a grandma to all of her grandchildren and spending time teaching them.
