Teresa Stoddard Obituary

Teresa Leigh Stoddard

1946 ~ 2021

Clearfield, UT—Teresa Leigh Stoddard, 75, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2021, in Clearfield, Utah.

Teresa was born to Ray Webster Stoddard and Jacqueline Leigh Reynolds on March 8, 1946, in Hamilton, Montana. She grew up in Missoula, Montana and graduated from Missoula County High School. In HS Teresa studied drama for which she had promising talent; she won best character actress two years in a row at a state competition. Later, she changed her studies and received her registered nursing degree from Weber State University in Ogden, Utah.

Most important in Teresa's life were her faith and her family. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Teresa loved children and spent most of her career, over 30 years, as a psychiatric nurse at Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. There are not many people who can spend decades caring for children who were suffering in that way, but Teresa dedicated her life's work to them.

Highlights every year for Teresa included spending time with her Mom and brother, Richard, on autumn trips to Montana to visit family, the Washington coast, and the many beaches around Puget Sound and her annual visit to Washington State at Christmastime. Teresa also loved animals, particularly those in need of rescue; she had both pet cats and dogs most of her life including, of late, a Weimaraner named Anna, whom she especially adored.

Teresa is survived by her brother Michael Stoddard, her younger half-brothers, Richard Peterson, Nyle Stoddard, Theron Stoddard, and Ki Stoddard, her life-long best friend Nancy Pulsipher, two goddaughters, Emily Han and Ginny Swenson; all who dearly loved and cared for her including the special caregivers at Chancellor Gardens in Clearfield.

Teresa will be interred next to her Mom, Jackie, at Evergreen-Washelli Cemetery in Seattle, Washington. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

I have many fond memories of Teresa especially when we were working together at primary children´s Medical Center. Her and Laurie would always win the card games that we play it drove me nuts because I was very competitive. It was fun to laugh with the kids. We tease them and they tease us. Teresa was very generous and bought a lot of fun things for them to use to help with their mental health issues. I remember how she love to read books and collect dolls. I appreciated it when Teresa would bear her testimony about the gospel and sited examples how it helped her in her life. You will be missed Teresa.

My heart goes out to Terry`s Family and friends. My memories of her go way back to the 1950s when she, my cousin, would come with her family to visit our family on our farm from time to time near Salmon, Idaho. We were just little children back then. She was always the boss because she was 11 months older than I was. The last time I saw her was a few years ago at my father Frank´s birthday celebration in Salmon, when we spent time reminiscing about the old days many decades earlier. I will always have a warm place in my heart for her and the good times we had together. William Hunt Stoddard, Sr. 702-595-6414. Las Vegas, Nevada.
