Teresa Szaro

Teresa Szaro, 77, of East Hartford passed away peacefully at her home on March 11, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 6, 1948, in Nisko, Rzeszów Voivodeship, to the late Emily and Stefan Piróg. She was also preceded in death by her younger brother, Józef Piróg. Teresa married her beloved husband, Edward, in 1967. They settled in the town of Kamien, where Teresa worked at the town hall as a tax collector and served as a member of the council committee.

In 1994, Teresa immigrated to the United States with her husband and their middle son, Tomasz, and settled in Hartford, CT. Their younger son, Wojciech, joined them in 1996, and their oldest son, Piotr, along with his family, joined them in 2008.

In 1998, Teresa and Edward purchased a home in East Hartford, where she lived until her passing. For many years, Teresa worked at Capitol Cleaning, where she served as a supervisor until her retirement. Her passions in life included tending to flowers, baking wonderful cakes, and cooking for her loved ones. Above all, Teresa cherished her family, who brought her the greatest joy in life.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Edward; her son Piotr Szaro and his wife Krystyna of New Britain; her son Tomasz Szaro and his wife Malgorzata of Old Lyme; and her son Wojciech Szaro and his wife Anna of Rocky Hill. Teresa also leaves behind the pride and joy of her life her grandchildren: Bartlomiej, Mateusz, Paul and his fiancée Alexandria, Michael, Jessica, Maximilian, and Dominik.

Her family will receive friends Sunday, March 15, 2026, from 3-5 PM at the South Green Memorial Home, 43 Wethersfield Avenue, Hartford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, March 16, 2026, at 10:00 AM, directly at SS Cyril & Methodius Church, 63 Popieluszko Court, Hartford.
