Obituary published on Legacy.com by Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. - Cumberland on Feb. 28, 2024.
Teri Frances (Vandegrift) See, 69, of Cumberland, went to be with the Lord on February 25, 2024, after a courageous battle with leukemia.
She was born on March 19, 1954 to the late John Francis and Anna Lee (Myers) Vandegrift.
Teri was a 1972 graduate of Allegany High School. Following high school, she attended Allegany Community College, where she received her degree in Nursing in 1975. After graduation, Teri was employed by Memorial Hospital/WMHS as a registered nurse in the ICU unit and later in the Oncology Department, until her retirement.
Teri was Presbyterian by faith. She was an active volunteer with the American Cancer Society. Teri participated in the Relay for Life, Look Good Feel Better, Road Cure: Motorcycle Ride, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk, fashion shows, and compiling cookbooks, to name a few.
Teri loved sitting on the sand at Virginia Beach and the Outer Banks. She loved to cook and bake from her ever-growing cookbook collection. She also enjoyed out-of-town shopping trips, antique shops, and reading. A special treat for her was spotting a Great Blue Heron while walking on the C&O Canal. She adored spending time with the family dog, Kiba, her little man. Because her father owned Vandegrift's Music Shop, Teri grew up listening to a variety of music. Her favorites included The Beach Boys and Paul McCartney.
Teri is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Gary; children, John See, Lauren See and significant other Matt; sister, Sharon O'Neal and husband Mick; nieces, Stephanie Lewis and husband Trevor, Taryn Thompson and husband Paul, Melissa Goetschius and wife Kirsten, and Jen Herndon; nephews, Matt Growden and wife Gwen, Michael Goetschius and wife Alison, Jimmy Ritchie and significant other Sarah, and Mat Herndon; sisters-in-law, Karen Goetschius and husband Pete, Annette Ritchie and husband Jim; brother-in-law, Phil See and wife Roberta.
