Terrence "Terry" J. Greene, age 71 of Newport, NC, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 7, 2024.
A native of Pennsylvania, young Terry enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, which led him to North Carolina. After proudly serving his country, Terry honed his skills as a master carpenter and became known for his ability to create, renovate, and fix just about anything. Terry later joined the Maritime Museum in Beaufort, NC where he crafted original exhibits showcasing coastal history and culture. He retired from the museum after 27 years. In his spare time, Terry enjoyed tinkering, built a windmill, and installed solar panels to completely power his home decades before these renewable energy sources became more commonplace. He was a humble man with a heart of gold and a wild sense of humor.
Terry leaves behind his wife, Patricia Jean; daughter and son-in-law, Nina and Isaac Rushing; and two granddaughters, Caroline and Eleanor. Terry also has a sister, Patricia Lyndell; nephew, Matthew Herman; niece, Meghan Herman; and two grandnephews, James and Joseph.
Terry is preceded in passing by his father, Terrence O. Greene; mother, Rita L. Greene; and two brothers, Bruce and Paul.
There will be no formal memorial service in accordance with Terry’s wishes.
