Terrill Lowe Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carolina Cremation Service - Salisbury on Feb. 4, 2026.
Terrill "Terry" Wesley Lowe, 70, passed away on February 2, 2026, in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Born on March 1, 1955, in Hendersonville, North Carolina, Terry lived a life filled with music, service, and deep devotion to his family and community.

Terry graduated from Hendersonville East High School before continuing his education at Anderson College and the Baptist College at Charleston (now Charleston Southern University), where he earned a master's degree in music arts. His passion for music became the foundation of a remarkable career that spanned over five decades.

As a gifted pianist and exceptional leader of choirs and praise teams, Terry served as director of music at several churches throughout South Carolina. His ministry included roles at Cokesbury United Methodist Church, St. Andrews United Methodist Church, Travelers Rest Baptist Church, and Grove Station Baptist Church. He was also instrumental in helping establish Metro North Church in Goose Creek, South Carolina – a testament to his commitment to faith and community.

Beyond the church walls, Terry shared his talents with the broader community through his work with the South Carolina Department of Employment and later as a road representative for Bernhardt House of Violins, supporting local schools and young musicians.

Terry proudly served his country as a reservist in the United States Navy for four years. As a Seabee, he embodied the values of dedication and resilience that would define every aspect of his life.

Those who knew Terry will remember him for his vibrant personality – he never met a stranger and had an infectious smile that could light up any room. His sense of humor was legendary among friends and family alike. Whether he was casting a line while fishing, cruising on his pontoon boat, tending to his yard and garden with care, or exploring new places alongside his beloved wife Jahala, Terry embraced life with joy and enthusiasm. Music remained a constant companion; he found peace strumming his
guitar or playing piano melodies that brought comfort to many.

Above all else, Terry cherished time spent with family. He is survived by his devoted wife Jahala Lowe; sons Justin Lowe (Shelbee), and Deland Cox; sister Patricia Donaldson (Bill); granddaughter McKinlee Lowe; and bother-in-law Gene Maddox; as well as many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his father Ray Lowe; mother Ann Lowe Stroup; and sister
Linda Maddox.

Terry's legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched – with every note played on the piano or song lifted in worship echoing the joy he brought into this world. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on February 22, 2026, at 02:00 PM at Shaws Creek Baptist Church, 91 Shaws Creek Church Road, Hendersonville, NC, 28791.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to be made in Terry's memory to the music department at Shaws Creek Baptist Church.

As we bid farewell to Terry, we find solace in the cherished moments we shared and the legacy of love he leaves behind. May his memory be a blessing and may he rest in eternal peace.

Chris and I have many fond memories of times spent with Terry both in church ministry and as lifelong friends. Terry performed our marriage ceremony nearing 27 years ago.
We are thankful that we were able to have him visit with us at our home this past year. Chris loved him like a brother, and has so many fond memories of their adventures together and also with Bill McDonald. He will truly be missed, but so happy he has been permanently and perfectly healed!!!
