Terry S Blume, 83, of Hot Springs, SD passed away February 27th, 2025.
Terry was born July, 9, 1941 in Redfield, SD to Wiley and Helen (Brink) Blume. While attending high school he met his wife Carn and they were happily married for nearly 60 years until her passing in 2022.
After high school, Terry began working for Black Hills Power and Light. He and Carn lived in Rapid City briefly and built their first home together in Belle Fourche, SD. During this time their 3 sons were born. He started his career as a three-man/lineman and would proudly tell stories of his days of climbing poles to restore the power during the brutal South Dakota winters. Through dedication and grit, he was eventually promoted to management and transferred to Hot Springs, SD.
After a time he was seeking a career change so he started his first business called Blume's Electric and Appliance which he successfully ran for a number of years. He sold that business and then he started Blume Ice, another success, thanks to a persistent work ethic and his family's support and hard work. Carn, Scott and Tim spent many hours with Terry, bagging, packing and delivering ice to the lake and surrounding communities.
Terry's favorite hobbies were hunting, fishing, gardening and golf. He and Carn were members of the Southern Hills Golf course for over 40 years. He had made an impressive 7 hole-in-ones over the years, mostly at the Hot Springs course. They also enjoyed traveling and spending time driving the hills and hanging out in the carport with family and friends. Terry was an interesting soul, and some may remember him as being quite cantankerous, but under his tough exterior, he did have a tender heart that he would occasionally let peak through.
Terry is survived by his sister Lynda, sons; Scott (Mary) Blume, Tim Blume (Amy), Grandchildren; Ryan (Jennifer) Blume, Michael Blume (Natalie), Mandy (Blume) Jackson (Anthony), Great Grandchildren; Allie and William Blume (Ryan and Jennifer), Etolin and Makai Blume (Michael and Natalie).Terry was preceded in death by his wife Carlton (Reed) Blume, his young son; Steven (Stevie), brother; Herb, parents; Wylie and Helen
Private family services will be held in Redfield, SD.

So sad to hear of your fathers passing. I've had the privilege of knowing both Terry and Carn and enjoyed their company for many years. Terry always had time to invite you over for a beer, to share his garden goodies and tell the many tails of raising his family and life with Carn. I loved to bake, and your folks loved my goodies especially the breads. I will surly miss stopping by when I visit the Hills. Thoughts and prayers for your families at this time of great loss.

Sincerely.
Cendy McCarroll
