Terry Michael Capps, a dedicated husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2025, at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh, surrounded by his loving family. Born on January 13, 1955, in Illinois, Terry lived a life characterized by hard work, kindness, and a strong commitment to those he loved.
For many years, Terry was a machinist for Tarheel Tooling, where he worked diligently from 2003 until 2025. His colleagues remember him not only for his exemplary work ethic but also for the camaraderie he fostered within the workplace. Terry truly valued the relationships he built there, often prioritizing the well-being of others over his own. He had a warm personality that was complemented by his enjoyment of helping the elderly and his playful nature with loved ones, as he loved to pick and tease those closest to him.
Terry's interests were diverse; he was often found tinkering with tools, building or fixing various items. He found joy in simple pleasures, like visiting the beach where he would stick his feet in the warm sand and search for sharks' teeth. His passions extended beyond hobbies; he was deeply devoted to his church and cherished his church family, which served as an essential support network in his life.
His family was the center of his universe. Terry is survived by his beloved wife of 17 years, Christal Capps, and their children: Michael Capps and wife Erin, Lisa Capps, Daphne, and step-daughter Amanda Langston. He was a proud grandfather to Rylee Capps, Lona Duncan-Capps, and Jonathan Wayne Langston, Jr. Additionally, Terry is survived by his siblings: Donnie Capps and wife Georgene, Ray Capps and wife Vinn, and Renee Rhodes and husband Alan. Terry also left behind his cherished fur baby, Sandi.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Capps and Kathlene Worley Capps, and a step-son, Jonathan Langston, Sr.
