Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jones Funeral Home - Burlington on Oct. 27, 2025.
Terry Lee Cox, 68, of Burlington, Kansas, passed away early Friday, October 24, 2025, at the Coffey County Hospital.

He was born July 14, 1957, at Emporia, KS, the son of Roy Dean "Pete" Cox and Barbara Joan (Watt) Cox. He graduated from Burlington High School in 1975 and was a lifelong resident of Burlington.

On June 19, 1982, he and Brenda Sue Gash were married at Burlington. They became the parents of two daughters, Megan and April.

After high school Terry worked during the construction of the Wolf Creek Generating Station. He then worked with Pastor Dale Doerr building houses and later with Alex Geuho doing plumbing work. He opened his own business, C & A Agri in Burlington, operating it for several years, and then was employed as the manager of the Ottawa Coop, Burlington Branch, where he worked until his retirement. He started farming with his grandpa, Guy Watt, when he was young, and after his grandpa was unable to continue Terry took over the farming.

Terry loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting. He especially enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Burlington.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Joan Anthony; his father, Pete Cox; his brother, Ronnie Cox, who died in a tragic accident in 1969; an infant sister; his step-mother, Juanita Cox; and his father-in-law, Charles Gash.

He leaves Brenda, his wife of more than 43 years; his daughters, Megan Powers and husband Scott, Emporia, KS, and April Cox, Burlington; his grandchildren, Brynn and Gunner Powers; a step-sister, Cindy Stohs (Glen), LeRoy, KS; a step-brother, Michael Tweedy (Terri), Burlington; his mother-in-law, Evonne Gash, Burlington; many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 P.M. Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Burlington. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery at Burlington.

The family will meet with friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Assoc. or the Coffey County Fair Board (to promote and assist young people interested in agriculture), and may be sent in care of Jones Funeral Home, PO Box 277, Burlington, KS 66839.
