Terry L. Gayne of Lake Mary, FL. and Chicago/Glenview, IL. passed away at his home in Florida, peacefully on December 24th 2025.
Terry married Idette Hurwitz in 1963 and in July of 2025 they celebrated 62 years together.
Terry was one of the greatest cable crane operators in the world. He helped to build many landmarks across the country (Sears Tower, The Cosmopolitan, Parts of Northwestern U, The Big Dig etc). He was very dedicated to his Union (IUOE) Local 150. Terry was an avid sports fan (Bears, Cubs and Blackhawks) he also used to be an avid water skier and race car driver and loved golf and the ocean. He was also a hockey coach with the Glenview All Stars and he coached baseball.
Terry was a proud man who did the very best he could for his family and others. He was a very generous man who never was shy about overtipping.
Terry is the father of 3 children, Julie, Scott and Lori and father-in-law to Michael. My dad will be joining Julie, his parents (Edward and Evelyn) his in-laws (Sol and Bunny), his 7 siblings and many other family and friends, as well as all the fur babies. He is and will be dearly missed.
