Terry Lee Hernandez, 69, of Cosby, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 10, 2024, surrounded by his family at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Johnson City, Tennessee, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Terry was born into the home of the late Andrew Hernandez and Beverly Villalon Larue, on March 30, 1955, in Sonoma, California.
A proud Army veteran, Terry served his country with honor and dedication.
After his service, having made his way home to California, he embarked on many adventures. His greatest and longest adventure being his marriage to his beloved wife of nearly 46 years, Julie. Together they moved their young family to Florida and raised their children before settling down in Cosby, Tennessee, where they have resided for the last 14 years. He was a local business owner and an active member of our community. Terry was known for his warmth, integrity, and commitment to making a difference in the lives of those around him.
Terry loved to travel and took any opportunity to spend time with friends and family. He enjoyed fishing, being outdoors, and had a knack for finding the party. He was even known to bust out his old harmonica every now and then.
Those remaining to cherish his memory include: his devoted wife, Julie Hernandez; two sons, Christopher (Jenn Thorne) Quattlebaum and Justin (Erika) Mulder; three daughters, April (Terry) Susalla, Jessica (James) Rich, and Ammie (Nicholas) Barnett. He also leaves behind a beloved legacy of 20 grandchildren and many siblings, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Terry’s life was defined by his love for his family, his dedication to his community, and his service to his country. His love for people shined through his career and volunteerism. He will be missed deeply by all who knew him and he will be remembered for his passion, laughter, and love of music.
Appreciation is given to those at the Veterans Administration Hospital where he received kind and compassionate care during his final days.
We will be celebrating his journey on Saturday, June 29, 2024.
