Terry Hurst Obituary
Terry Hurst, 71, of Petersburg, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2023 at his home in Petersburg. He was born January 21, 1952 in Princeton and worked as a coal miner for over 29 years before door greeting at Walmart. Terry was a proud founding member of the Patoka Township Volunteer Fire Department in 1981 and served as chief. He was a jack of all trades, was known for being a "tinkerer" and could make or fix anything he laid his hands on. Terry was loved and will be missed.
Terry is survived by his children, Andy Hurst of Petersburg and Cheri (Hurst) Dunn of Petersburg; grandchildren, Colton Mallory, Travis Norrington, Kaylynn Hurst, Kynslee Hurst, Madisyn Hurst, Maesyn Hurst, and Parker Hurst; 2 great-grandchildren, Caiden Mallory and Brendan "John Henry" Mallory; and siblings, Dan Hurst (Suzie) of Vincennes, Debbie Wolfe (Tony) of Hazleton, and Tracy Hurst (Karla) of Francisco.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Veragwen (Collins) Hurst; wife of 12 years, Lora (Loveless) Hurst; and daughter, Abbey Williams.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Corn Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City officiated by Rev. Keith Jenkins, Sr. Interment will follow at Martin Cemetery in Petersburg. Visiting hours will be held from 4 until 8:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
For those who wish, memorial contributions can be given to the Patoka Township Volunteer Fire Department located at 1554 E State Road 64, Winslow, IN 47598.
