Terry L. Sandberg, 81, of Fond du Lac passed away at her home on October 10, 2025 after a lengthy and painful illness. Her daughter was by her side.
Terry was born on August 22, 1944 to Richard and Patricia (Corcoran) Prasser. She graduated from St. Mary's Springs Academy in 1962. After graduation she attended Marian College and was employed by First National Casualty Insurance Company.
In 1964 Terry married Richard A. Sandberg at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fond du Lac.
Together they ran the Youth Center through the Fond du Lac School District Recreation Department. Terry often said the "Youth Center Days" were some of the best times of her life. She loved interacting with the teenagers and loved seeing them have fun. Throughout the rest of her life she was delighted when she'd run into former "Center kids." There was always much reminiscing, as well as gratitude for all the good times shared.
Terry and Richard ran the Youth Center from 1964 until 1977 when Richard fell seriously ill. Terry was swept into the role of caregiver for her husband for the next fourteen years. She did an excellent job, making sure he had everything he needed. Richard preceded her in death in 1991.
After her husband's death, Terry served as head receptionist at the Central Wisconsin Cancer Program. She was a favorite among both staff and patients. Her compassion and warmth were so important to patients facing serious health challenges. Her beautiful smile was the first thing they saw when checking in for appointments. Terry retired from CWCP in 2009.
Terry enjoyed traveling with her daughter, especially to Las Vegas and Reno. She never met a casino she didn't like! She also loved helping chaperone trips to New York City with her daughter's high school students.
Preceding Terry in death were her beloved grandparents, George and Corinne Corcoran; her parents, Richard and Patricia Prasser; her husband, Richard; brothers-in-law, John and Robert Sandberg; sister-in-law, Linda Prasser; her aunts and uncles, Carl and Vivienne Prasser, Richard and Gloria Promen and Margaret "Peg" Neuburg; her best friends, Nancy Kimpel and Dixie Ziegler; and her daughter's fianceé, Tom Smith.
Those left to cherish Terry's memory are her daughter, Tracy Sandberg; her brother, Jerry Prasser; sisters-in-law, Joyce Sandberg and Jan Alf; cousins Ted (Terri) Neuburg and Lee (Don) Behnke; special friends, Jeff and Raelynn Feucht and Jim Kimpel; and many other relatives, friends and co-workers.
Tracy would like to extend a very special thank you to Ellen, Ally, Jamie, Megan, Myriah and Linda from Moments Hospice of Appleton, and to Brianna, Tabitha, Aaliyah, Carrie, Bernie, Kierra, Alina, Emma, Patti and Lakia from Cornerstone Caregiving of Fond du Lac. All of you made it possible for Terry to remain in her home during her final months. Your care and support will never be forgotten. You were angels on Earth.
In keeping with Terry's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral services. Terry was always known for her kindness and generosity. In her honor, please consider making a kind gesture toward someone who needs it. Send a well-timed greeting card, be of support to those who are ill, donate to a charity or animal rescue, make a meal, console those who are lost, or be a shoulder to lean on for young people finding their way in this world. And always make cookies...the best cookies!
