Terry Sweat Obituary
He was born in Blackshear, Georgia, to Billy Osborn Sweat and Ora Lee Todd Lowman. He attended Ware County High School before graduating from Blackshear High School in 1980, where he was voted "Most Athletic" by his classmates. He retired as an environmentalist with the wastewater treatment plant for the City of Waycross after 30 years of dedicated service. He was a member of Bethesda Fellowship in Waycross and served as a father figure at Bethesda Recovery for many years.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ora Lee Todd Lowman; and his grandparents, Whit and Leona Dixon.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Cathy Sweat of Waycross; five children, Nikki Carter (Jason) of Alma, Billy Sweat, Jr. (Jessica) of Waycross, Randy Crawford, Jr. (Christy) of Surrency, John Crawford (Kelly) of Waycross, and Sally Smith (Rod) of Blackshear; numerous spiritual daughters and sons; twelve grandchildren, Kody Dukes (Leah), Bailey Thomas (Hunter), Logan Lott (Luke), Maegan Carter, Austin Sweat, Alexis Sweat, Callie Crawford, Caleb Smith, Jamison Carter, John Harper Crawford, Mason Sweat, and Sadie Crawford; one great-grandson, Hudson Thomas; one great-grandson on the way, Benson Thomas; his father, Billy Osborn Sweat of Griffin; his stepfather, Wendell Lowman of Screven; three brothers, Gary Sweat (Holly Davis) of Patterson, Bryan Sweat of Atlanta, and Eric Sweat (Lisa) of Conyers; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 22, 2026, at Bethesda Fellowship in Waycross. The family will begin receiving friends at the church on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
