Terry Lyn Wallace, 72, of
Moore, Oklahoma, passed away on January 6, 2026, following a short battle with small cell lung cancer.
Terry was born in 1953 in
Maud, Oklahoma, to Helen and Odie Pate. She grew up alongside her three beloved sisters (Karen, Peggy, and Muriel) with whom she shared a lifetime of laughter, mischief, and friendship.
After graduating from Healdton High School in 1971, Terry moved to Dallas, Texas, and, later, to Midland, Texas, where she worked as an electrician apprentice for Mobil. Her most important role, however, was as a devoted mother to her daughters, Paige and Whitney. Terry provided unconditional love, support, and advocacy throughout their lives.
Although she did not have the opportunity to attend college early in life, Terry pursued higher education in her 40s, ultimately earning a master's degree. She went on to work as an elementary school teacher and counselor; jobs well suited to her compassionate nature.
Terry was endlessly creative. She was a gifted sewer and crocheter, making her daughters' Halloween costumes by hand and creating sweaters, stuffed animals, blankets, scarves, and hats for loved ones, especially her granddaughter. Her talents extended to refinishing wood floors, creating handmade lamps out of books, and reupholstering furniture. As a voracious reader, Terry also found great joy in frequent trips to the public library.
Terry will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, quick sense of humor, quirky spirit, and deep love for her family and friends. She gave generously to those in need even at times when she had very little, and complimenting Terry's jewelry or something in her home often resulted in her gifting the item to you on the spot.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Odie Pate, and is survived by her daughters, Paige and Whitney Wallace; her granddaughter, Madeline, whom she adored; her son-in-law, Brian Rogers; her sisters and their spouses, Karen and Bob Goforth, Peggy Schlinke, and Muriel and Clyde McAlister; and several nieces and nephews. Terry is also survived by her close friends Jeanne Baker, Barbara Essaili, and Susan Dickerson, who lovingly supported her in her final months.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Stephenson Cancer Center (especially Dr. Ezzell and Nurse Rachel), as well as Frontier Hospice and Brookdale Assisted Living (particularly Shelby, Jesse, and Kim) for their compassionate care.
In accordance with Terry's wishes, no memorial service will be held. Those wishing to honor her life are encouraged to make a donation to Stephenson Cancer Center or to their local public library in her memory.
