Terry Vern Watson, affectionately known to many as "Cub", passed away on Thursday afternoon, January 22, 2026 at Mayo Clinic Health System in
St. James, Minnesota, surrounded by the love of his family. The Kramer Funeral Home of Sherburn, Trimont and Welcome, Minnesota is in charge of Terry's arrangements.

Terry Vern Watson was born on April 25, 1952 in
Hettinger, North Dakota to Vernon and LaVonne (Nordby) Watson. He was baptized on September 14, 1952 at English Lutheran Church and later confirmed on May 29, 1966 at Grace Lutheran Church in Ormsby. He attended school in Ormsby until the sixth grade and then attended St. James Public School later graduating with the class of 1970. Cub was employed for Ken Henderson as a farmhand, the Railroad, Ag Chem or (AGCO), Land O'Lakes, Curry's Sanitation for many years and when they sold he was employed with Waste Management. On August 1, 1981 he was united in marriage to Carol Haler. After their marriage they lived in St. James. He continued working for Curry's-Waste Management and later ran Cub's Band Box. Cub then was employed at North Country Seeds in Ormsby and later for Taylor Swanson and drove truck for Cory Suess until ill health forced him to retire. He enjoyed going on road trips especially to the Osakis area with friends. You could find him pulling e-tabs, pull-tabs, playing pool especially in Las Vegas with friends. Terry belonged to the Son's of American Legion in St. James and played ball for the Odin and Ormsby teams.
Cub is survived by his wife of 44 years, Carol Watson of
St. James, Minnesota; children, son, Rusty (Becky) Sundsvold of Hamilton, Ohio, daughter, Rachel (Tony) Karau of
St. James, Minnesota; grandchildren, Allisza and Aidan Sundsvold of Hamilton, Ohio, Michael (Krista) Zender of
Trimont, Minnesota, Katrina (Sergio) Gonzalez of Crookston, Minnesota, Austen (Vivi) Gonzalez, Nolan Gonzalez, Korryn (Brandon) Yira of Fairmont, Minnesota, Rohman Gonzalez, Ryuan Gonzalez, Ramsez Gonzalez; great-grandchildren, Ivan, Jazmine, Monico, Noah, Kacey, Aurora, Brooklyn, Ariella and Kenny; brothers, Lonny (Bonnie) Watson of Ormsby, Minnesota, Lynn (Brenda) Watson of
St. James, Minnesota; sister, Jana Falk of
St. James, Minnesota; mother-in-law, Phyllis Haler of
St. James, Minnesota; brother-in-law, Doug (Kari) Haler of Sleepy Eye, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Sue (Paul) Spoo of Lakefield, Minnesota; nephews, Brandon, Eric, Blake, Burke, Cody, Rory; nieces, Paula, Traci, Erika, Amy an Dulcie and other relatives and friends.
Cub was preceded in death by his parents, Vern and LaVonne Watson; father-in-law, Al Haler; grandchild, Peyton Surdsvold; grandparents, Otis and Jane (Langeland) Nordby and Millie and Quinton Watson and other relatives.
Terry lived a life devoted in connection, loyalty, and love. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Carol, and together they built a family that was the center of his world. Terry was a proud and loving father to his son, Rusty, daughter-in-law, Becky and to daughter, Rachel, son-in-law, Tony. His family was his greatest joy and he showed his love through his presence, his support and the pride he took in each of them. One of Terry's greatest delights was being a grandfather. He spoke often and proudly of his grandchildren, celebrating their talents, passions and accomplishments. Watching them grow and succeed brought him immense happiness and his
encouragement and pride meant the world to him. Terry was also a cherished friend to many. He valued friendships deeply and had a way of making people feel appreciated, and at ease. Known for his warm heart and steady spirit. Terry leaves behind countless memories filled with laughter, love and moments that will be treasured forever. Though his absence will be deeply felt, Terry's life is one worth celebrating. His legacy lives on through his family, grandchildren and all those who were fortunate to know him. He will be remembered not only for the years he lived but for the love he gave, the pride he shared and the strong family bonds he helped create.
