Terry Martin Watson, age 75, born April 21, 1950, in
Villa Rica, Georgia, raised in Douglasville, passed away on February 9, 2026. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend whose life was defined by love, service, and quiet strength.
Terry proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, earning the rank of Staff Sergeant, a reflection of his dedication, discipline, and lifelong sense of responsibility and honor. Following his military service, he spent over half of his life in
Newnan, Georgia, where he built a life centered on hard work and family, retiring after many years with AutoZone.
At the heart of Terry's life was his beloved wife, Margaret Wells Watson, with whom he shared 47 years of marriage. Their love was constant, tender, and unmistakable. Terry was never happier than when he was by Margaret's side, often keeping a hand gently resting in her lap or on her wrist, simply content to be near her.
Terry is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Wells Watson; his children Paul Watson & (Sheryl), Christa Shaner & (Devin), and Matthew Watson & (DeAnn); his grandchildren Terri, Mark, Luke, Bo, Colin, Carson, Bryson, Noah, Emily, Kris, Harper, and Madelyn; and his great-grandchildren Emersyn, Delaney, and Kolbie. He knew each of his children and grandchildren personally..what they loved, what made them smile..and he took great joy in making sure he always had their favorite things waiting when they came to visit. Making his family feel known, welcomed, and deeply loved was one of his greatest gifts.
He is also survived by his sister Debra Hollis & (Eddie), along with his brothers- and sisters-in-law Bob and Susan Wells, Lynn and Marshall Trumpour, and Hal and Beth Wells, all of whom held a special place in his life.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Carroll and Lois Watson, whom he carried with him always.
Terry was an avid outdoorsman, He found peace on the water and in the soil. He was a proud member of the Coweta County Bass Masters Club, where he won several bass tournaments and formed lasting friendships. Fishing and camping were among his greatest joys, as was gardening. His garden was legendary..producing an abundance of fruits and vegetables each season, always shared generously with others. Teaching his children and grandchildren about the outdoors, patience, and the beauty of simple moments brought him great joy.
Above all else, Terry loved his family. He showed his love not just through words, but through his presence, preparation, and care. His legacy lives on through the lives he shaped, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave so freely.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Terry Martin Watson will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his devotion, generosity, gentle strength, and the immeasurable love he poured into his family every single day.
