Tessie Lee Woods

Tessie Lee Woods, age 91, departed this earth's life surrounded by her loved ones. She was Born on October 25, 1934, in Arkansas to the late Connie and Deanner Holliman.

Tessie attended school in Arkansas and, later in life, moved to Rockford, Illinois, where she met and married Robert B. Woods, Sr. Their union was blessed with eight beloved children.

Tessie was raised with strong family values and was known for her unwavering devotion to her family, her kindness, and her nurturing spirit. She was member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where she served as a member of the Usher, Nurses, and Mother Boards. She remained a member until death. Her deep commitment to both her family and her faith was evident in the countless lives she touched through her kindness and generosity. Tessie's warmth touched the lives of all who knew her, and she would be deeply missed.

She leaves a beautiful legacy behind to be cherished by many loving memories, her daughter; Alberta Russell (Arlington, Texas), sons; Robert Earl (Nora) Woods), Marvin Woods, Curtis (Amy) Woods; Ralph Woods; one sister, Jewlene Pickens; bonus children; Alex (Mary) Woods, James Woods, Lillian (Ron) Williams, Juanita Woods, Delores (Jeff) Walker, and daughters-in-law; Donna Woods and Ellen Woods, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other extended family members, and friends.

Tessie was preceded in death by her husband, parents, maternal and paternal grandparents, three daughters, Doris Holliman, Eloise Pearson, Wanda Jean Woods and bonus daughter; Margaret Watkins. Son; Joe Nathan Woods; bonus sons; Carie Woods and Donnie Woods. Two grandsons; Robert E. Woods III. and Chester Woods III. Sisters; Bennie Lee, Orine Wainwright, Mary (Snippy) Holliman, and Galvester Williams. Brothers; Thearta Holliman and Leearta Holliman. Sisters-in-laws; Ellen Blake, Rubie Powell, Ozie Woods, and Gracie Sowell. Brothers-in-laws; Jessie Woods, Essex Woods and Joe Davis Woods.

Tessie Lee Woods is now at peace resting in her faith in the love of the Lord, Jesus Christ.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church 404 N. Avon St. . Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
