Mangano Family Funeral Home, Inc. - Middle IslandThaddeus Perlowski, a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and veteran, passed away peacefully at home on December 20, 2025, in Middle Island, New York, at the age of 89. Born in Biezen, Poland, he came to the United States at the age of 14 and began his life in America in Brooklyn, New York.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann Perlowski (Mele). Together they raised a beautiful family, which includes their three daughters Julia Perlowski, Andrea (Brian) Wendland, and Jeanne (Kenneth) Anderson; and two sons Anthony (Christine) Maio and Jerry (Barbara) Maio. Known to those close to him as “Ted,” he was also incredibly proud of his six grandchildren, Brian, Christopher, Kathryn, Olivia, Anthony, and Lyla, and his great-granddaughter Everly Joy.
Ted served honorably in the Navy from 1956 to 1960, a testament to his strong sense of duty and service to his country. He pursued an education that led to an Associates Degree, enabling him to build a long and successful career as a Service Manager at Xerox. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and volunteered with Make A Wish Foundation.
Ted enjoyed an active life that included fishing, golf, and tennis, and skied until the age of 79. The quintessential life of the party, known for his booming Polish accent, signature “chicken dance,” and making the best bloody marys, he was happiest when spending time with his family, friends, and his beloved wife Mary Ann.
