Thelma Lee "Mina" Bailey

Thelma "Mina" Bailey, age 64, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 31, 2026. Mina was born on October 12, 1962, in Newark, NJ. Mina was educated in the Newark Public School System. She graduated from Girls Vocational High School. After high school, she went on to become a dedicated professional dancer with Alvin Ailey Dance Team in Harlem, NY. She brought grace, passion, and artistry to every stage she touched.

She was raised in Dayton Street projects where she was very well known and loved for her infectious smile. She met her first love, Eddiemu Perkinson, and they had one son, Mustafaa. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family, friends, and her community. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering support left a lasting impact on all who knew her. She also had a great love for animals.

Mina was a beloved mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She found joy in dancing, reading, and volunteering at local charities, where her generous spirit touched countless Lives. She was predeceased by her mother and father, Gene and Connie Bailey, and her sisters, Angie and Tracey. She is survived by her one and only devoted son, Mustafaa Shareef Bailey of Orange, NJ, a sister, Kelly Bailey-Boyce, and her beloved niece, Kelly, who was also her care-giver, and a nephew, Nigel.
