Thelma Brooks Cox, age 93, of Heiskell, passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at North Knoxville Medical Center. Thelma was born February 7, 1932, in Anderson County, Tennessee, to the late Rev. J.S. and Libby Brooks. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church and retired from Anderson County Schools as a cook. Thelma loved to quilt, cook, but most of all, she cherished spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, William F. Cox; daughter, Rhonda Elliott; brothers, Ralph, Kyle, and William Joseph Brooks; sister, Imogene Hacker; grandson, Ryan Lail; and nephew, Anthony Brooks.
She is survived by her sister, Lola Heck & husband Francis; nieces and nephews, Garry Brooks, Inez Tackett, Kristi Marren, Larry Brooks, Kenneth Brooks, Gail Smith, Pat Bassett, Carla Bailey, Gilbert Brooks, Lynn Brooks, Penny Belt, Karen Aslinger, Carmen Brooks, and Tim Brooks; brother-in-law, Lester Hacker.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm, Monday, September 8, 2025, at Holley Gamble Funeral Home. Her funeral service will follow in the chapel with Rev. Kenneth Brooks officiating. Thelma's graveside will be at 11:00 am, Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Norris Memorial Garden. Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of all arrangements. Holleygamble.com
