Thelma M. Lamey of Albany, GA died Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at Willson Hospice House. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 4, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Chris Turner and Mr. Scott Price will officiate.
Born in Marks, MS., Mrs. Lamey was born to the late Rev. Clarence and Frances Waddell. She has lived in Albany, GA since 1984. Mrs. Lamey was a dedicated pastor’s wife to the late Rev. Perry Lamey and followed him as they served in Lexington, AL, Salem, OR., Moultrie, GA., Carrolton, GA., Dublin, GA., Bainbridge, GA., Albany, GA. and Pelham, GA. She organized many fundraisers at each location by selling baked goods, dinner plates or her talented crafts. Mrs. Lamey was an avid gardener and enjoyed growing flowers. She currently attended Lighthouse Ministries.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by, two sons, Gregory Lynn Lamey and Perry E. "Eddie" Lamey, Jr., a great grandson, Bradley Jay Turner, a brother, Buford Waddell and a sister, Essie Singleton.
Survivors include her daughter, Regena Turner (Chris), four grandsons, Chris Turner (Sara), Jonathan Turner (Tricia), Ben Turner (Megan) and Josh Turner (Kayla), four great grandsons, Bowden Turner, Wyatt Turner, Hudson Turner and Maddox Turner, two great granddaughters, Emma Turner and Rylee Turner, two sisters, Mildred Franklin and Becky Oliver (Crawford), a brother, Charles Waddell, and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Mathews Funeral Home
Those desiring may make donations in memory of Mrs. Lamey to Lighthouse Ministries c/o 1707 Antioch Road Albany, GA 31721.
