Thelma Ruth Hampton Leonard peacefully departed this life at Tranquil Living Assisted Living Facility in Marrero, LA on Friday, October 31, 2025, at the age of 93. She was a native of Lafourche Parish, LA and a resident of New Orleans, LA. Beloved wife of the late Jurdon D. Leonard, Sr. Beloved mother of Debra Leonard, Tracey Leonard, Pamela Lee, Irene Martin, Donald Ray Leonard, and the late Sandra Leonard, Geraldine Chance, Jurdon D. Leonard, Jr., and Bobby Jo Leonard. Bonus mom to her 4 stepchildren. Grandmother of Latasha Thompson, Corey Williams, Jarrett, Jason, Justin, Jatira, Angel, Bobby Jr., Joma, Tony, Tiera, Michelle and Nicole Leonard, John Lee III, Jordan Lee, Pascale and Shondell Wilson, Alfred, LeJoan, Yolanda and Trena Martin. Daughter of the late Mitchell H. and Leotha Ellen Thomas Hampton. Sister of Thomas Hampton, Leola Campbell, and Cora Lee Hampton. Her dear friend of over fifty years, Helen Mosley. Thelma is survived by numerous great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Regular Baptist Church, New Birth Cathedral of Glory Ministries, Hosanna Fellowship Church of Gretna, West Point Church, St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church, and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church, 1738 L. B. Landry Ave. New Orleans, LA on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 10:00a.m. Pastor Norman Francis, host pastor; Pastor Richmond Edwards, officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the church. Interment: St. Paul Baptist Church Cemetery-Thibodaux, LA. Arrangements by Davis Mortuary Service, 230 Monroe St., Gretna, LA.
