Theo Putnam Obituary
Decatur
Mr. Theo E. Putnam Jr. passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2012. Mr. Putnam was born in Decatur on June 21, 1926, to the late Theo and Dora Morrison Putnam. He is preceded in death by Bonnie Biggerstaff Putnam, his wife of 59 years, his parents and his brother, Billy Joe Putnam.
Mr. Putnam served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the war, he graduated from Riverside High School. Mr. Putnam retired from Wolverine Tube in 1982 and was a member of Grant Street Church of Christ. He was an avid Alabama fan and fisherman. He loved to grow and give away tomatoes.
Funeral service will be Friday, November 23, 2012, at noon at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon with Bro. Jere Spurlin and Bro. Charles Riley officiating.
Survivors include his son, Mike (Sandra) of Decatur; granddaughters, Shelley (Web) Webster, Alex (Paul) Cabri and Jess Putnam; and great-grandsons, Put Webster, Jack and Payne Cabri.
Pallbearers are Web Webster, Paul Cabri, Doug Weatherspoon, Jerry Robinson, James Whitmire and Billy Wallace. Honorary pallbearers are Gilbert Thrasher, Jim Fite, Robert Lovelady, Clyde Smith, Loy Taylor and Jim McColloch.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Shorty's Boys Scholarship Fund in care of Charles Riley.

I loved Put and Bonnie. My mother Mary Pitts and my stepfather Grady adored them. I remember Put bringing vegetables from his garden to share with Mother and Grady, \especially his large, beautiful tomatoes. What a dear man. I had been planning to visit him and take him some old photos I found of him with his basket of tomatoes in my mother's living room. He was a dear, loving, kind GENTLEMAN and I shall miss him dearly. My deepest sympathy to Mike and his family.
