Ted was born at St. Francis Hospital in Miami Beach, FL. He grew up in North Miami and graduated from North Miami Senior High School. He also attended Miami-Dade Junior College.
Ted began his career as a salesman with Yale Ogron Window Company in Hialeah, FL, and later worked for Latham Marine in Ft. Lauderdale, dedicating 24 years of service until his retirement.
He was the son of the late Cecile T. Manseau and Walter Desley Chance, Sr. Ted met his soulmate and the love of his life, Sonia Avendano, while they both worked in Hialeah.
Besides his parents, ted is preceded in death by his sister, Kathleen Chance Latham (Bob), Ft. Lauderdale and nephew, Charles Robert Davis, Jr(Michele), Houston, TX.
He is survived by his wife, Sonia Chance; his siblings, Janice Chance Davis (Charles) of St. Marys, GA, Walter Desley Chance, Jr. (Betty) of Deltona, FL, and Susan Chance Hecker of Warwick, NY. He was a beloved uncle to Jennifer Davis Paden (Marc) and family, Ted and Eli; Darren Chance Davis (Elizabeth), Jacksonville, FL; Rebecca M. Davis (Ani Jha), London, UK; Miranda Davis Mackman (Kent) and son, Miles, Cary, NC; Connor R. Davis, Dallas, TX; Zach Chance and son, Kai; Ian Chance (Jenny) and son, Finn, FL; Steven Hecker and family, NY; Olivia Latham Spinuzzi and children, Gia, Blade, Blaze, and Mia, CO; Amanda Latham, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; George Mejia and children, Dylan R. Mejia and Ashley Mejia, Italy; and Lizette Teodoro, Miami, FL.
Ted was an avid fan of the University of Miami Hurricanes and the Miami Dolphins and had a deep appreciation for all kinds of music. He leaves his family and friends with countless joyful memories and will be deeply missed. May Ted rest in peace with our Lord God.
