Theodore Dean Obituary

Theodore "Ted" Dean

Theodore "Ted" Dean, 70, of Elkton, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2009, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Dean was born September 27, 1938, in Greene County, the son of the late Benjamin and Ruby Harlowe Deane. He was preceded in death by a wife of 39 years, Lois Carol Dean; a brother, Bucky Dean; and a sister, Martha Dean.

Mr. Dean worked as a master tool and die marker with Coopers Manufacturing for 24 years. He then went on to work with Technicolor for five years. He served in the United States Marine Corps in the Marine Reserves.

On September 28, 2002, he married Leona Meadows Dean, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Jan Dean-Clemmer of Albemarle, and Tedra Evette Dean of McGaheysville; three grandchildren, Damon Dean, Amanda Roberts, and Emmett Roberts; two great-grandchildren, Breonna and Pearla; four stepchildren, Glenda Breeden of Elkton, Brenda Comer and Gary Meadows of Shenandoah, and Wade Meadows of Troy, Virginia; 11 step-grand-children; 11 step great-grandchildren; four sisters, Barbara Nash of Madison, Margie Bower and Ruby Pincher of Augusta, Georgia, and Ethel Kettlewell of Greene County; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, June 7, 2009, at the First Bible Baptist Church in Stanardsville with Pastor James Wood and Pastor Alva Hurley officiating. Burial will follow at the Jollett Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Saturday, June 6, 2009, at the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton and anytime at the home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Elkton Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 152, Elkton, VA 22827.
