With a heavy heart, we announce that Theodore John Fisher, lovingly known as Ted, passed away peacefully at his home in Cleveland, TN, on July 13, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on August 14, 1943, in Glassboro, NJ, Ted was a remarkable man with a passion for life and a spirit that touched everyone he met.
After graduating high school, Ted followed his love for radio, and he even set up his very own station in the basement of his parents' home. His journey took him to broadcasting school in Boston, and he worked at various radio stations in Philadelphia and New Jersey. His service in the United States Navy was marked by his time in the carpenter's shop aboard the USS Yosemite, and he was honorably discharged after his dedicated service.
Ted wore many hats throughout his life. He worked as a disc jockey, carpenter, electrician, and electrical design engineer before finally retiring from maintenance at the Orange County Auto Auction in Orlando, FL. Despite all these changes, he never lost his love for radio. Ted also made a lasting impact in his community by contributing to and running the audiovisual department for three churches. He had a special way of connecting with young people, sharing his wisdom and encouraging them through life's ups and downs.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Fisher, his brother Ralph Fisher, and his two daughters, Elise Howell and Calista (Kiti) Scott. Ted was preceded in death by his father, John M. Fisher, and his mother, Gladys Fisher.
A memorial service celebrating Ted's life will be held on August 14, 2025, at 12:30 PM at the Ladd Springs SDA Church, located at 5860 Bates Pike in Cleveland, TN. Ted will be laid to rest at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Let us gather to remember and honor a man who brought joy and wisdom to our lives. Ted will be greatly missed but forever cherished in our hearts.
