Theodore "Ted" Haynes, Jr., age 85, of Versailles, passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at Jefferson City Manor Care Center. He was born November 1, 1938, in Jefferson City, a son of the late Theodore, Sr. and Ruth (Comer) Haynes.
On December 31, 1958, in Versailles, he was united in marriage to Gertrude "Trudy" Emmerson who preceded him in death on January 14, 2014. Later, on May 24, 2015, at the Gravois Mills First Baptist Church, he was united in marriage to his surviving wife, Pat (Buchler) Kurczewski.
Ted worked as a lineman and line crew foreman for Southern California Edison until his retirement after thirty years. Following his retirement, he became the pastor of the Gravois Mills First Baptist Church where he led people to the Lord for twenty years.
He enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing and hunting.
Ted was a member of the Versailles Second Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, Pat, he is survived by his children, Kevin Haynes of Parker, Colorado, Kyle Haynes of California State and Vanessa Working of Boerne, Texas; ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; his brother, Michael Haynes of Colorado and many other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Geri Woodman and Donna Cook.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.
