I´m so sorry to hear about Vic´s passing. He was one of the nicest people I have ever had the fortune to meet. I met Vic about 15 years ago and he took me to the Whitewater Center to show me around. Genuinely a special man.

My deepest Condolences to Sherri and the kids and the Family. It was a privilege to know Vic. First meeting at St. John´s and then leaning on him as my financial advisor. He got me through the 2008 financial crisis; when I asked him if we should sell, he said hold tight. I listened to him ever since. I will miss him as an advisor, but more so as a friend. It was so good to see so many pay tribute to him at his funeral at St. John´s today. So well deserved. Wishing the family all of God´s love and peace during this difficult time.

When I hear Vic's name I recall a man who was unfailingly positive and upbeat, one who always found the good in people and events. I met Vic in my consulting work with Bank of America many years ago. He always smiled. I considered him a friend from our first interaction. My deep sympathies to his family at his loss.

So very sad to hear of the passing of this terrific person. I had the great pleasure of working with Vic in marketing early upon my arrival to Charlotte at the then Nation´s Bank. His energy, warmth, focus on positive impact, and willingness to step up to try new ideas - the Whitewater Center being but one example - were inspiring to all around him. My heart goes out to the family Vic cherished.

I had the sincere privilege of getting to know Vic when I worked at the Ivey. His warm smile and upbeat spirit filled the room. I enjoyed conversations with him about how he met Sherri, his kids, his work. He was always curious about the Senior Scholars I would present on various topics- asking questions; and had a love for 70´s music. I´m honored that I was able to have that time with him.

We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Vic Howie. We were so fortunate to have known Vic and his family through our church St. John´s Episcopal. My friendship also grew through being a youth advisor for Trey while he was in high school. It was a special Sunday to see Vic and his warm smile at St. John´s. Rest in peace, our friend!

Knowing Vic was a true privilege and honor. His work in the Charlotte community cannot be understated. From Pitch Breakfast to the National White Water Center and his desire to advance our community from all angles and levels. While Vic sometimes said goodbye or `adieu mon cher ami´ - he would more often say, `Until next time´. A lover of people, family, travel, music, Church, food and drink. The most positive person I have ever known - and one that lifted you up. He remained fearless, focused and gentle; he inspired many to be greater than they were. A mountain among men in each community he soiled his hands in. A bass player and not the lead guitarist - his memory will remain the rhythm section of my life. We drank champagne together in Paris, calvados in Normandy and Bourbon in Charlotte - often with a cigar. What a friend, what a life, what a legacy! He is in each of us. Loving hugs to Sherri, Trey and Caroline - we are with you.

Vic was one of the first Alumni Board Members that I met when I started my job at CofC many years ago. Always warm and welcoming, he cared deeply for his alma mater and the people who made up its special community. He treated you like gold every time he saw you, and I´ll always remember how passionate he was about encouraging others to chase their dreams and go after the things that mattered. He always spoke about his family and was sure to ask you about yours. Vic was a true gem and my heart and prayers go out to his beautiful family and friends who I know he adored.

Grace and peace to the entire Howie family upon Vic's passing. I feel so blessed that Vic and I were great friends from elementary school to college. We had some great adventures together throughout it all. After college, we kept in touch and love that he fell in love with my sorority sister and he was pleased that I fell for a fellow banker (although a Yankee from VA)! Sherri, my heart hurts so much for you and the kids. Please know that we keep our memories of Vic close to our hearts as well and we pray your journey in grief is filled with wonderful memories and moments. Stacey and Kevin Reynolds

God bless you and your entire family in this time of deep sorrow. Vic was the ultimate inspiration for many of us that knew him. I met Vic my first freshman semester in 1982 and he was a true friend. Vic was not only smart but athletic, generous and funny. He was the consummate guy who made all people feel special around him. While maintaining his classes, he always made time for his social and athletic activities too. And even had time for some road trips to Myrtle Beach together to visit his fraternity friends. Vic was the most thoughtful and kind man all throughout his life and I feel very fortunate to have benefited from knowing him. He will be missed but not forgotten. God Bless him and his family- we were so blessed to have him.

Vic was literally my oldest and dearest friend since we were little boys. He was a fine human being, father and husband, as well as an accomplished professional gentleman. I truly believe all who knew him are better for it. I know I and my family are. Rest well old friend.
