Theodore "Ted" Lewandowski
Ted was born in Chicago to the late Henry and Edna (nee Wojtyska). Beloved husband of over 56 years to LaVerne (nee Welnowski); devoted father of Todd (Emily Montgomery) and Brent (Amy). Proud Granpa T to Mia, Grace, and Ava. Dear brother of the late Richard (Shirley); JoAnne (late Joseph) Salomon, Tom (Tina), Robert (Barbara), Henry (Maureen), Henrietta (Kenneth) Frahm, Dorothy (late Michael) O'Connor, and Don (Luci); fond uncle of 21 nieces and nephews.
Born and raised in South Chicago, Ted attended Chicago Vocational High School and played semi-pro football for the Our Lady of Guadalupe Bears and the Marty and Joes Chiefs, and the Huns. A United States Army Veteran, Ted worked for over 50 years as a Local 130 Union Plumber. He truly loved working with his long-time coworkers at Town and Country Plumbing. As much as he loved his work, Ted always made time for family and doing the things he loved the Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs and Twin Lakes, Wisconsin. He worked tirelessly in volunteer efforts for the St. Germaine Holy Name, the Brother Rice Dad's Club, and the Courage Program.
Ted was devoted to his wife LaVerne and his three granddaughters were the center of his world.
Family will receive friends on Friday, May 24th from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Curley Funeral Home, 6116 West 111th St., Chicago Ridge, IL 60415.
Family and friends should gather Saturday, May 25th at 9:00 a.m. at Curley Funeral Home and then process to St. Germaine Parish, 4240 West 98th St., Oak Lawn, IL 60453 for Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 a.m.
Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
