DALLAS — Theodore Montross, 81, of Dallas went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Nov. 13, 2023, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carol (Story) Montross.
Born on May 5, 1942, in Centermoreland, he is the son of the late Ernest and Bethel (Shook) Montross.
He graduated from Tunkhannock High School in 1960 and went on to attend LeTourneau University from 1963 to 1966. However, he returned home upon the passing of his father-in-law to run T.S. Montross Farm Machinery, where he worked tirelessly until his passing.
Ted's strong work ethic and commitment to excellence made him a respected figure in the community. He dedicated countless hours to the growth and success of the farm machinery business.
Apart from his professional achievements, Ted had a variety of interests and hobbies that enriched his life. He found great joy in hunting and spending time immersed in engaging books. However, nothing brought him more delight than being surrounded by his beloved grandchildren. Ted cherished spending quality time with them, often taking them for buggy rides that left lasting memories for both him and his grandchildren.
For many years, he devoted himself to the betterment of education as a member of the Tunkhannock School Board until 1989. In addition, Ted served on the board of the Centermoreland Cemetery. He was a member of Northmoreland Baptist Church.
Throughout his life, Ted embodied traits that inspired those around him—hard work, dedication, and a genuine love for others. His warm spirit and unwavering commitment to his family and community will forever be remembered.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Bryan Montross and wife Cheryl, William Montross and wife Jennifer; daughter Erin Phillips and husband Ryan; sister, Betty Statnick; grandchildren, Tyler, Ryan (MeiLing), Joshua (Megan), Sergey, Jaxson, Gavin, Mason Montross, Melody and Weston Phillips.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Ola Mae Schoonover.
Family and friends are invited to attend Theodore's funeral service which will be held Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023, at 10 a.m. from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, Pa. 18657 with Rev. James Howell presiding. Interment will follow in Fitch Cemetery, Falls.
