Peluso, Theodore L.
Of Arlington, MA died peacefully on February 10, 2024. Born in Williamsburg, Brooklyn on January 12, 1933, he was the son of the late Dominick and Florence and younger brother to his two sisters, Teresa (Anthony) Digianni and Grace (Mel) Farris. Predeceased by his beloved wife of 60 years Jane (Cummings), he is survived by his two children, Steven Peluso and his wife, Sharon of New York City; Janet Peluso and her husband Alex Hoffinger; and his two grandsons, Benjamin and Jonathan Hoffinger of Arlington, MA. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Proud to be the first in his family to attend college where he studied accounting, he graduated from City College of New York and served in the Navy for two years. Ted spent his career working as a CPA for the accounting firm BDO Seidman, where he rose to become managing partner of the White Plains office. Civic minded and outgoing, Ted derived great satisfaction during his career and in his retirement using his business experience and knowledge serving on many not-for-profit boards and working on community activities.
Ted moved to Arlington with his wife Jane in 2007 to be the fun grandpa to his two grandsons, enjoying many adventures and encouraging their many interests. He continued his involvement in community initiatives, serving as an Arlington Town Meeting member, working with the Arlington Tourism and Economic Development Committee, volunteering to read with students at the Hardy Elementary School library, participating in the Bridges Together Intergenerational Program at the Dallin Elementary School, as well as many other town activities, most recently chairing the weekly Current Events Group at the Arlington Senior Center.
Ted loved to travel and shared many trips all over the world with his wife, Jane. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and joke-telling, kindness and devotion to his family, and always trying to do the right thing by others.
The family would like to thank Dr. Myfanwy Callahan of Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates of Medford and Dr. Jason Beattie of Beth Israel Medical Center Pulmonology for their wonderful care and support. Special thanks to Sharon Perryman of Hands and Hearts Hospice for guiding our family through the final days of Ted's life with such kindness and compassion.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, February 15th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Keefe Funeral home, 5 Chestnut Street, Arlington, MA and a funeral mass will be held on Friday, February 16th at 9:30 AM at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 32 Medford Street, Arlington, MA. Ted will be buried alongside his wife, Jane, at Holy Cross Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY.
