GALION - Theodore James Pfeifer passed away January 24, 2025. He was the son of Arthur John Pfeifer and Laura (Cymbola) Pfeifer of New Winchester, Ohio. He lived in New Winchester and Galion his entire life. Ted attended Whetstone and Colonel Crawford schools.
Ted married the love of his life, Mary Kathleen Jacobs, June 27, 1964. They met when he jumped in her car when she was stopped at a red light. The rest is history!
Ted's first job was working for farmers. He later worked for North Electric, Peco, General Hydraulics and Perfection. He co-owned Pfeifer Brothers Roofing for over 40 years with his brother Donald. Ted was well known for his strong work ethic, and he was always ready to lend a hand.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Theresa, and son Toby (Lisa Mahan). He leaves behind 6 grandchildren, Amanda Tracht (Matthew Hawks) of Old Orchard Beach, Maine, Andrew Tracht (Stephanie Ramsey) of Delaware, Ohio, Adam Tracht of Westerville, Ohio, Jeran Pfeifer, Caden Pfeifer, and Isaac Pfeifer (Emma) of Galion, Ohio. In addition, he has 5 great-grandchildren, Isabell, Bryson and Carter Tracht of Delaware, Ohio, Selma Leona Hawks of Old Orchard Beach, Maine, and Nova Pfeifer of Galion.
Ted is also survived by brothers Chester (Sally Franco), John, Donald (Judy Moyer), Thomas (Janice Harden), Leroy (Regina Souder) and Rick Pfeifer. He also had two sisters, Mary Corfman of Galion and Joann Nonemaker of York, PA. He is survived by in-laws Marlene Ruby, Richard Jacobs, and Tim (Ann) Jacobs. He has many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters-in-law LeRaine (Nalley) Pfeifer, Evelyn (Williams) Pfeifer, Jean (Jacobs) Wise, Rose Jacobs, Marilyn (Lawrence) Jacobs and brothers-in-law Ken Ruby and Ronald Wise. One son was stillborn, Theodore Pfeifer Jr on June 16, 1966.
At his request he will be cremated, and ashes will be divided between Mary, Theresa and Toby. A memorial service/celebration of life will be held at a later date, yet to be determined.
