Theodore "Ted" Stevens

Theodore A. “Ted” Stevens, age 65, of Eleva, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2024 at Dove Healthcare-Regional Vent Center in Chippewa Falls.

He was born on September 10, 1958 in Eau Claire, the son of the late Ardell G. and Doris A. (Zillmer) Stevens.

Ted attended Eleva-Strum schools, graduating from Eleva-Strum High School with the class of 1976.  On April 3, 1982, Ted was united in marriage to Terry Habhegger at Eleva Lutheran Church.  To this union, two children were born. 

Ted worked at Eleva Lumber and Cenex for several years before he accepted a position and began his dream career with the Village of Eleva as the street superintendent, retiring in 2020.

Ted was a very active citizen in the Village he called home where he was in the first group of 1st Responders of Eleva, served on the Eleva Village board and volunteered 33 years on the Eleva Fire Department.   

Ted had a lovable personality and a sense of humor that could capture a room.  He was a man with a gracious and giving heart and would help those in need before taking care of his own.  

In his later years, Ted found enjoyment in traveling.  Ted found his “happy place” sitting in the driver’s seat of his Mustang convertible, especially with his wife, Terry in the passenger’s seat driving with the top down with no particular destination in mind.  Ted’s greatest and most treasured part of his life was his family, especially his grandson, Brandon who was always “just a little boy” in his eyes.

Ted will be sadly missed by his wife of almost 42 years, Terry; children, Kari Stevens and Dustin (Rachel) Stevens; his precious grandson, Brandon; sister, Alice Tollefson; brother, Dale “Teefer” Stevens; sister in law, Lisa Rossman; mother and father in law, Ronald and Carol Habhegger; brothers in law, Tom (Tina) Habhegger, Chuck (Shannon) Habhegger and Clifford Tollefson; also by devoted niece, Denise Brion along with other nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends. 

Besides his parents, Ted was preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Peterson.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Eleva Lutheran Church with Pastor Karen Ressel officiating.  Burial will immediately follow at Eleva Cemetery.  A visitation will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service all at the church.
