Theodore “Ted” E. Travis, 83, of Albion, NE passed away Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Boone County Health Center, Albion, NE.

Theodore “Ted” E. Travis, son of Everett Joseph and Jean Marie (Hayer) Travis, was born in Leon, IA on March 8, 1941. At three months old his family moved to Chase County where they lived on the Travis homestead west of Champion, NE where they raised dairy cows. He was baptized in July of 1970 at Nolan’s Dam to complete immersion into the RLDS faith. Ted attended rural school district #8 from 1947 to 1955 and then District #66 from 1955 to 1956 before going to Chase County High School where he graduated with the class of 1960. Ted attended Western Nebraska Technical College and graduated in May of 1972.

On July 29, 1962, Ted married the love of his life, Sharon Ann Mather. From this union Ted was blessed with six children. Ted and his family lived in Imperial, NE from 1967 to 1971 and then they moved to Sidney, NE where they lived for one year. They then lived in Wauneta, NE from 1972 until 2006. They then moved to Albion, NE where Ted has resided ever since. Ted was a state licensed electrician for 30 years. He was a State Certified Propane Technician and a Federally Certified Freon technician and was employed by Wauneta Coop Oil Co. for 28 years.

Ted was a lifelong member of the Methodist church. He was a part of the Methodist pastor parish committee. Ted was heavily involved with his community. He was on the Imperial volunteer fire department, Imperial Jaycees, Wauneta Park Board, Webelo leader, Boy Scoutmaster, and Troop Committee member. He also helped with Boone County Food Pantry. Ted was a very generous man. He was also an exceptional knife maker, and great at hunting – especially with his muzzleloader and black powder. In his free time, he would make crosses with horseshoes and horseshoe nails. He also enjoyed reading Sowders newspapers. Most importantly he loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren dearly.

Ted is survived by his wife of 62 years: Sharon Ann Travis of Albion, NE; two sons: Joel (Anastasia) Travis of Albion, NE; Dick (Darla) Travis of Elm Creek, NE; two daughters: Joni (Ken) Tilford of Roco, NE; Dixi (Rusty) Wellman of Waverly, NE; brother: Kelley (Beverlee) Travis of Waverly, NE; 13 grandchildren; 10 soon to be 11 great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
