Amelia "Amy" Rose Straub, born on December 1, 1973, in Connell, Washington, passed away on August 10, 2025, in Wauneta, Nebraska. Her life, from the very start, was filled with warmth and love, traits she so generously shared with those around her.
Amy grew up in Othello, attending grade school before her family moved to Wyoming, where she later graduated from Buffalo High School, Buffalo, WY. It was in Wyoming that she met the love of her life, Robert Straub, in 1986. Their hearts intertwined as they shared dreams and built a future together, culminating in their wedding on August 14, 1992. Together, they nurtured a loving family, and Amy embraced her role wholeheartedly, devoting herself to her husband and children. Amy worked at the school in Kaycee, Wyoming, as a paraprofessional.
Her enduring spirit was reflected in her deep love for her children—Kaleb, Billy (Shelby), Seth, and Kaden—and her three cherished grandchildren, Nikita Prosser, Colten Straub, and Oakleigh Straub. Amy found immense joy in being a grandmother, a role she treasured above all, relishing every moment spent with her grandkids.
A devoted family member, Amy was always there to lend a helping hand or offer support. She had a natural affinity for outdoor activities, enjoying the simple pleasures of fishing and camping. Those memories created with her loved ones in nature are forever etched in the hearts of those who had the honor of sharing those moments with her.
Amy was also a loving daughter to her father, Lee Greaves, and grew up alongside her siblings, Andy Greaves and Heather Greaves, and later connected with her half-sister, Jill Theofelis. The strength of their bond, along with the love from her father-in-law, Harry Straub, helped build the foundation of a close-knit family that Amy adored and nurtured throughout her life.
Amy's light now shines brightly in the hearts of her family and friends, who carry forward the legacy of love and dedication that she exemplified. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her memory will live on in the stories shared, the laughter remembered, and the love that continues to surround her family.
Visitation will be held on August 15, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM at the Church of Christ, 406 Baxter Street, Stratton, NE 69043 with Ret. Pastor Randy Hayes officiating. Interment to follow at Elmer Church Cemetery, Elmer, NE.
