Theodore 'Ted' Thordarson

Ted Thordarson, 92, of Chisholm, died Saturday, June 7, 2025 at Villa Vista in Cromwell with family by his side.

He was born April 20, 1933, in Gardar, North Dakota, to Eggert and Thuridur (Asmundson) Thordarson. Ted was a 1951 Milton Highschool graduate. On August 17, 1951 he joined the Air Force becoming part of the Air police. On August 16, 1955, Ted was discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant. Afterwards he earned his bachelor's degree at Valley City State College. Ted moved to Cloquet in 1966. He was united in marriage in 1968 to Judith Boss. Later in life Ted moved to Chisholm where he resided for over 40 years. He retired from Range Mental Health as a chemical dependency counselor. Ted enjoyed wood working where he would make end tables and cabinets. His family, friends and faith were very important to him. Ted was a member of the Chisholm Baptist Church.

Ted is survived by his children: Carol (Tom) Johnson and Patti Waseen; sister Lillian Meling; grandchildren: Travis (Rachel) Peterson, Lisa (Cody) Myer, Holly Johnson, Jory Johnson; great-grandchildren: Miles Myer and Kyla Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eggert and Thuridur and brother-in-law, Harlan Meling

The family would like to thank the Villa Vista Staff and St. Croix Hospice staff for the excellent care they provided Ted during his brief stay. Memorials are preferred to the Chisholm Baptist Church.

Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 2025, at the Chisholm Baptist Church, with Rev. Dan Erickson officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service in the church. Mid-Range Honor Gard will accord Military Honors. Arrangements are entrusted to Rupp Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Chisholm.
