Theresa D'Alessio Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Louis C. Galzerano Funeral Home, Inc. - Philadelphia on Jan. 29, 2025.
Theresa D'Alessio passed away at her home at the age of 96 on Tuesday, November 26th. Born and raised in North Philadelphia, Theresa was a strong and independent woman who cared for her family throughout her life and was known for her sharp sense of humor and elegant fashion sense. Her life-long career as a textile worker in the knitting mills of Philadelphia provided support for her large and loving Italian family.
She deeply appreciated the care provided by her nephew Robert and niece, Karen, and was especially fond and grateful to her 'angel' Colleen McGarry and her family who provided weekly meals, support and friendship for many years when Theresa was housebound.
Theresa was predeceased by her father and mother, Anthony and Esther D'Alessio, her sisters, Angela D'Alessio and Vera St. Pierre, her brothers William, Joseph, and Dominic D'Alessio, her nephew, William St. Pierre, Jr. and her niece, Patricia Fedele.
She is survived by her nephew Robert St. Pierre and nieces, Karen St. Pierre, Linda Punzo and Diane D'Alessio. She is remembered with love by Karen's partner Peter Samelson, Robert's partner, Marcia Gilbert, her former brother-in-law, William St. Pierre, Sr. and her many great-nieces and nephews.
A graveside ceremony will be held at 11am on Wednesday, December 4th at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 3301 Cheltenham Avenue, Philadelphia. The procession will meet at 10:45am at the main gate. After the service, friends and relatives will gather to celebrate her life at Randi's Restaurant, 1619 Grant Avenue, Philadelphia.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Caring for Friends, whose volunteers brought home-made food, comfort, companionship, and great joy to Theresa in her later years.
