Theresa Ann Thurkettle was born August 6, 1971 in Zanesville, Ohio to proud parents, Frank and Nancy Thurkettle. She grew up in Ohio and moved to Williamsburg as a sophomore in high school and graduated from WHS in 1989.
Theresa met her soulmate, Tim Glandorf, on the golf course in Amana the summer after her senior year in high school. They dated throughout her college years at The University of Northern Iowa. Theresa graduated from UNI in 1993 and later went back to school at The University of Iowa to get her teaching license.
Tim and Theresa were united in marriage at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg on May 25, 1996.
Mrs. Glandorf was a teacher at Mary Welsh Elementary in Williamsburg for 22 years and had an incredible impact on hundreds of students and colleagues over the years. Williamsburg was her home and she was so proud of her community.
Theresa loved going on walks with her friends and her sister, Brandi. She loved spending time with her family, visiting Anna Maria Island, and going to all of her kids' events.
Theresa's favorite and most treasured roles in life were being mom to Regan and Zach, mother-in-law to Travis, and "TT" to Jett and Dax. Her legacy lives on through her children. Her grandbabies adored their TT and will be told stories about what a wonderful person she was for the rest of their lives.
Theresa was taken from us unexpectedly and far too soon on June 18, 2023 at the age of 51. We are so incredibly heartbroken that she is no longer physically with us, but know that her legacy lives on. Theresa was a true angel on Earth. She was always thinking about everyone else before herself. She was kind, generous, gracious, and always willing to help anyone and everyone. If we could all be a little bit more like Theresa, the world would be a much better place.
Theresa is survived by her husband, Tim, children, Regan (Travis) Perry and Zachary Glandorf, grandsons Jett & Dax Perry, her sister Brandi Thurkettle-Brown, brother Brent (Paige) Thurkettle, sister and brothers-in-law Debra Walton, Rod & Clover Glandorf, Pat & Rebecca Nehls, and 15 nieces and nephews, Robert, Rachel, Ashley, Ryley, Mackenzie, Ethan, Alex, Madison, Grant, Braeden, Grayson, Lily, Lucy, Scarlet, and Lincoln. She is preceded in death by her mom and dad, Frank and Nancy Thurkettle, her father and mother-in-law, Robert and Marian Glandorf, her brother, Frank Thurkettle, and her brother-in-law, Dave Brown.
In lieu of flowers, Theresa's family requests donations be made to the TaterTough Foundation, Mary Welsh Elementary, or St. Paul Lutheran Church. We also ask that you come up with a kind, thoughtful act to do in honor of Theresa.
A Visitation for Theresa will be held at Williamsburg High School on Sunday, June 25, 2023 from 4-7 pm. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be on Monday, June 26, 2023 at St. Paul Lutheran Church at 10:00 am. Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg is in charge of arrangements. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
