Theresa Gonyaw

Theresa Gonyaw, born on August 31, 1966, in Tampa, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025, in Zephyrhills, Florida, at the age of 59. Theresa lived a life full of love, adventure, and devotion to those she held dear. Throughout her career, Theresa worked as an Office Assistant for Tarmac Company in Tampa, where she was known for her diligence, attention to detail, and warm personality. Her positive spirit left a lasting impact on her colleagues and friends. Theresa's passion for water activities, swimming, and kayaking brought her immense joy and tranquility. She also cherished the time she spent horseback riding and capturing the world through her photography, always seeking the beauty around her. Her adventurous spirit was matched only by her dedication to community and fellowship, evident in her involvement with the Woman of the Moose and the Kentucky Mountain Riding Association. Theresa's life was a testament to love and family. She was the beloved wife of 35 years to Gary (G.W.) Gonyaw, who stood by her side through life's many moments of joy and challenge. She is survived by her dear mother, Linda Betz; her devoted son, Justin Cypher; and her loving sisters, Marian Gant and her husband Tobby, and Catherine Betz. She was also a proud grandmother to Lunara, Solara, and Dovian Cypher, whom she loved dearly and inspired with her zest for life. Theresa was preceded in death by her father, John V. Betz, whose memory she cherished deeply. Though she has departed from this world, the light that Theresa brought into the lives of those around her continues to shine brightly. Her legacy of kindness, love, and adventure will forever be remembered and celebrated by all who knew her. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL, where family and friends will gather to honor a remarkable woman who touched so many hearts. Theresa's journey was one of love, laughter, and exploration, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind. May she rest in peace, forever embraced by the love of her family and the beauty of the natural world she so adored.
