Concord, VT: Stephen Curtis Gonyaw, age 74, of Loon Ln., passed unexpectedly at his home from a medical event, Saturday evening, October 18, 2025.
Steve was born on December 12, 1950, in St. Johnsbury, VT, son to the late Curtis Theodore and Eleanor Mary (Conly) Gonyaw. He was raised and educated in St. Johnsbury graduating from the Academy in the Class of 1968. He married Carolyn Squier on October 17, 1970 and have shared 55 years together. He continued his education at the University of Vermont receiving a BS in Mechanical Engineering setting up a career path.
Steve was proud of his work in the nuclear industry at Crosby Valve & Gage in the ‘70s and ‘80s. He gave that up to move back to Vermont in 1990. He spent his last 20+ years at Burndy Littleton before retiring in 2016. After retiring, he enjoyed traveling in his RV seeing a lot of the country. He wintered in Texas for eight winters and most recently in Florida. Summers were spent enjoying camp at Miles Pond.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Carol S. Gonyaw, of Concord, his son: William “Bill” Gonyaw and his wife and son: Amy and Theodore, of St. George, VT, Steve’s 2 brothers: David Gonyaw of St. Johnsbury and Michael Gonyaw and wife, Ellen, of Enfield, NH (formerly Danville).
There will be no Calling Hours or services. Memorial donations may be made in Stephen’s name to St. Jude’s's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or www.stjude.org
