Theresa "Terry" Handibode, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2026, at her home in Lake Grove, NY. Born on March 16, 1936, in the Bronx, NY, she lived a life filled with love, dedication, and unwavering commitment to her family and community.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Edward, with whom she shared 64 years of Marriage.
Terry was a loving mother to their five children, Edward, Ann Lynn (Chris), Pamela (Michael), John (Lynda), and Richard (Kathy). Her legacy continues through her eight cherished grandchildren: Carissa, Emily, Ryan, Theresa, Tara, Elizabeth, Julianna, and Emily and her seven great-grandchildren, Magdalene, Jack, Simon, Veronica, James, Briella, and Cayden.
Their lives have been touched by her unconditional love and support.
In addition to her immediate family, Terry is remembered fondly by the family of her late brother Jack and his wife Carolyn, both of whom preceded her in death.
Terry and Ed enjoyed their retirement years traveling all over Europe. They also loved ballroom dancing and spending time with family and friends. They were always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. When a need arose at St. Frances Cabrini Church for a Parish Secretary, Terry came out of retirement and served her Parish for the next 10 years. Terry was known for her dedication and her kindness to everyone she worked with and the Parishioners they served. Her time at the Church was a reflection of her nurturing spirit and her passion for helping others.
